My Pick:

4 Must Have Treatments for Luxurious Locks

February 4, 2017

Knowing how to keep your locks lustrous can sometimes be a bit confusing.  There are all kinds of home remedies on social media, and sometimes they work, but most of the time they aren't helping with your particular hair issues and only coating your hair.  Our hair needs more than just moisture, or just protein.  There are different bonds inside the hair to be repaired, and it's not just a one time thing.  If your hair is shoulder length or longer it's even more important to maintain those ends. Regular haircuts are important.  Some clients say, "Oh but I want to grow my hair longer."  That's okay, but those ends still need to stay fresh so they don't become brittle and break off, or what my friend Mike calls "self pruning".

For maintaining shiny lustrous locks, I suggest the following:

Phi ten Bella Moisture Treatment by Yuko: Use to replenish you hair's moisture.  Our hair gets really dried out from blow drying, hot tools, swimming, and being out in the elements. Your moisture treatment should not be mistaken with your daily conditioner that is paired up with your daily shampoo.  This is a separate treatment and is especially important if you receive chemical services such as hair color of any kind, style with heat, or spend a lot of time out doors.

Directions:  Shampoo hair.  Apply Phi Ten Bella or a moisture treatment of your choice from mid shaft to ends.  Cover with a plastic cap and let penetrate for 15 minutes or more.  Rinse thoroughly.  Style as usual.

Repair by Yuko: Use to replenish your hair's protein bonds.  Our hair's protein bonds get damaged from chemical treatments, and daily styling.  When our protein bonds are damaged, that's when our hair tends to split and brittle off.  Imagine a rope coming unwound.

Directions: Shampoo hair.  Apply Repair or a protein treatment of your choice from mid shaft to ends.  Cover with a plastic cap and let penetrate for 15 minutes or more.  Rinse thoroughly.  Style as usual.

Olaplex:  Our hair's disulfide bonds can also be damaged from all of the above.  There are so many treatments claiming to repair your disulfide bonds since Olaplex came out. Personally I've had great results with Olaplex.  Olaplex links together your broken disulfide bonds leaving it with a very noticeable difference.  Clients say, "My hair feels thicker, and more alive!"  Olaplex stand alone treatments are done in the salon.  You hair will feel amazing!  Extend your Olaplex treatment with Olaplex #3 take home.

Directions for Olaplex #3:  Shampoo hair twice.  Apply Olaplex #3.  One ounce is enough for average lengths.  Leave in for a minimum of 15 minutes.  Olaplex will repair your disulfide bonds until they are all repaired, and then it stops.  Wash out the olaplex with your daily shampoo and moisturize with your daily conditioner or follow up with your moisture treatment.

Cellophane:  Cellophane creates reflective shine to your hair.  It can be done after any of the treatments above, or by itself.  This treatment is done in salon.

I suggest that you do your moisture and repair treatments at home.  For the price of the product you can do several at home treatments as to one salon treatment.

For your Olaplex stand alone treatments, I perform those in salon.  The prices for these treatments are as follows:

Moisture Treatment: $30 more for longer and thicker

Protein Treatment: $35 nice for longer and thicker

Olaplex Stand alone: $60 more for longer and thicker

Olaplex #3 take home: $28 - purchased from me.  Please call to order or make sure I have it in stock.  It sells out quickly.

Cellophane: $35 - more for longer and thicker.
